Omid Moallem

Omid Moallem (امید معلم), born on August 11th, 1990 is an Iranian Producer, Filmmaker, Publisher and Movie Journalist.

Omid is the eldest son of late Ali Moallem and Azar Memarian, the founders of Picture World Magazine and Hafez Annual Movie and TV Awards in Iran’s private, non-governmental sector. He holds a Master’s Degree at Cultural Planning Management, and started his artistic activities at the early age of 20 in 2009, by producing a Pop Music Album “Sleeping World” by Mehdi Jahani, which became a box office hit. Moallem’s cinematic career began in 2011 by making short films. His directing debut short film won the Best Film Award at the 4th Annual “City Film Festival” in Tehran. His second film, “The Cold Season” won the honorary diploma as the best film at the 6th “Parvin Etesami Film Festival”. In 2016, he co-produced the Marjaneh Golchin’s Concert with Azar Memarian and Farzam Shekari. After his father’s untimely passing in March 2017, Omid took over his father’s cultural legacy, and is now the Concessionaire, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of both Picture World Magazine and Hafez Awards. Apart from his compact schedule of being the Chief Editor, journalist and movie critic, attending and providing full coverage of major film festivals around the world “Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, …” for the magazine and its online platform “DTOnline”, he has served as the producer, director and member of the jury at the 17th, 18th and 19th Annual Hafez Movie and TV Awards.
